The Seasons
So I peeled a Tangerine for Donovan this morning....he thought it was an orange...but I said, "its an orange's cousin, but this one has seeds, so make sure you spit them out, don't eat them"....Well, he took one bite, spit it all out and said, "I don't like seasons" I smiled and said, "no Bugga, its seeds, seasons are very different. We have four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. Its winter now. Its cold and snowy and we have Christmas and sledriding and snowmen. Then comes spring. The weather gets warmer, the leaves come back on the trees, and flowers bloom and we have Easter and you and Delaney's birthdays, then is summer! My favorite season. Its hot and fun and we can swim and ride bikes and play and have picnics! Then comes fall and kids go back to school and the leaves turn brown and fall off trees and it gets colder and we go to Cooks Forest and celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving! and then comes winter again" He listens very well, very intently. So he's looking at me and then he says, "Can we ride bikes?" lol
Oh So Fine!
I made a teriyaki type chicken and rice for dinner....Delaney, God love her, took a big bite and with food spilling out of her mouth, smiled and said, I love fine rice mommy!" LMAO
Birthday presents
Delaney's life revolves around holidays and birthdays...."what's next?" is what we hear when we leave a party or the day after Christmas, etc....So today Delaney wanted to know who's birthday was next..I went thru uncles and aunts, we talked Valentine's Day and then, the next birthday is MINE! (February 28th - mark it down, remember it like its your own - I accept all gifts and major credit cards!) So she said, "what presents do you want?" I told her to make sure she tells daddy that I want to go on a fancy date and kiss. She giggled at the kiss part and then very excitedly said, "Are you gonna go to ChuckECheese and can I come?" LMAO Uh, That'd be a NO, Bob! She did say she wants to be around to help me open my gifts....so sweet! Well, once Ben got home, she ran and told him and reported back to me...."Daddy said he likes dates!".....then I asked about the kissing part and she got that awkward kid look, took a deep breath and said in total annoyance, "Yeah, that'll be fine too" LMAO
Its always greener on the other side....
So, being the oober cool mom that I am...I got Delaney a pack of $.99 eyeshadow for her stocking....Has a rainbow of colors...she loves dress up, I hate her getting into my makeup....so she brought it in and asked if she could make me pretty...I said, "please, please make me pretty!" (ANyone, anyone, Beuller, BUeller??) So she said, "close your eyes, I'll let you know when you're done" (Its really pretty relaxing to have someone oodle over you, put makeup on, brush your hair - so bring your kids over, I have no problem being a dummy - obviously!) Anywhooo....while she was applying the 'pretty' she put some makeup on the skin above my eyebrow....thought, ok, she's the boss....well, she kept going and then stopped and said, "oooooh, I put it on the wrong side of the fur" LMAO I am dying to take a picture and post it so you can see just how pretty I look!
No Singing!
So Delaney asked me if I could put a braid in her hair....I did and while I was doing it, I started singing one of my weird and made up as I go songs about braids....and she said, "Just braids please" LOL

Someone's in trouble.....
So one of the night's when we were away, we climbed in bed, it was about 9:30pm and we are trying to get the kids settled and lights were off, we were rubbing backs and singing lullabyes when we hear this loud banging and absolute chaos. It sounded like people were running into walls, banging on ceilings, just total havic. Well, Ben got mad. Sat up listened for a bit and decided that it had to be his team acting up. So he got dressed and ran downstairs to check and see if it was the boys making the noise. Well, right after he left, Delaney asked if someone was in trouble. I said, "if its the boys making that noise, yes, someone's in trouble." That's when Donovan sat up, put his finger to his nose (which he does when he's making a serious statement) and said, "Daddy's gonna spank their butts!" LMAO!! I'm still laughting when I picture him saying it....
Hot in There!
So we went away for a few days with Ben's bball team and the hotel we stayed in had a pool. Kids were too excited! Five minutes after arriving, Ben had them suited up and down in the pool. Well, the next day, while I knew it was safe to enter the pool as the team left for a shoot around, we suited up and headed down. In the elevator on the way, Delaney was jumping around and telling me about the pool and how she jumped off the side to daddy and how she LOVES to swim. And then, in absolute seriousness, like she was really helping me out, she said, "Oh and don't go in the small pool, its REALLY hot in there!"
Crown Hour
Delaney is all girl all the time! She plays dress up every day, wants to fix my hair and paint nails, all things sugar and spice and nice.....So for Christmas, she got a beauty set with a Barbie hair dryer that actually sounds, a hair straighter, brush, fake shampoo and perfume and a crown hour....oh sorry, for those of you that speak adult, that's a curling iron....she was pretty close though! lol
