Kid Ears

So when I was packing the kids up yesterday I said, "Hey, who wants to go to the polls with me to vote?" Donovan screamed, "We're going swimming!" I laughed and said, "NO that's p-o-l-l Poll, not p-o-o-l Pool" Of course he stared at me cause he's 3 and he doesn't spell, but then he scrunched up his forehead, put his hand up and said, "Well...are we still going boating?"

Candy

So I just told Donovan that he really needs to stop sneaking candy cause his belly is gonna get so sick that they'll have to cut him open and put in a new one (Totally going for the fear factor here cause they didn't like seeing Tenley get or remove stitches) So, he said, "No it not gonna happen"....I said, "It might buddy, you need to eat better food and stay away from the junk. We need to get you to eat more fruits and veggies" He smiled his manipulative smile and said, "Well, just for today I'm gonna eat the candy, OK? Tomorrow we'll eat better" RIGHT!

Postive Reinforcements

So while I was making fruit salad today, Delaney was pep talking me, "That's good cutting mom, you're doing a nice job"...Then she revealed that she does in fact tell people nice things like that cause it helps them feel good and makes them want to do things that maybe they don't know that they want to do or can do, so words of "a currency" helps....I told her I too like words of a currency, but I prefer bills of a currency over words....Show me the Money!

First in Line!

Delaney is so smart some times....She told me today that if she doesn't know how to do something, she never lines up first, she always lines up second or third cause then she can watch to see how things are done without having to look silly when she doesn't know. Then she told me, "But it is okay if you don't know cause you can always tell the teacher that you didn't understand, but I really don't want to do that, so I just go second" LOL

Mommies and Daddies

So the kids were playing pretend and Donovan told Delaney he was gonna be her daddy....So he gave her a big hug and said, "I love you!" Of course my interests were peaked, so I asked what else daddy's do and Delaney said, "Well, mommies play on their 'puters like you and Daddy's change diapers"...."Really?" I was thinking cause Ben is rarely home to change diapers, so I asked for more...She said, "Mommies wear makeup and put on jewelry and daddies go to work" I said, "What about mommies cooking? Or cleaning? Or reading books with you and making brownies? Is that all we do?" and she said, "Well, you can put that on your list...how 'bout I add planting flowers? Will that be better?" I must put the computer away.....

Mean Old Witch

This story comes from my in-laws and just cracks me up....They have their house decorated up for Halloween, ghosts hanging from the trees, hay and pumpkins and scarecrows all around and a giant witch sitting on their porch swing.....so Donovan and Tenley were over the other day and they were playing outside and Tenley went to the porch swing, put one of her dolls on it and pushed it....Well, the swing obviously swung back and knocked her right over, making her cry....and protective big brother ran over to the swing, threw his pointer finger right up in the witch's face and said, "Don't you ever hurt my sister again!" Then he helped Tenley up and continued to throw evil stares at the witch...LMAO!!

Let's play a game....

Delaney talks...all the time....about anything....she probably has to squeeze it all in because outside of our cocoon, she's very shy and quiet....So last night we went for a drive up to Mt. Washington to try to get kids to pass out....sadly its easier than fighting for an hour with our kids...so on the way there, Delaney just started chirping...."I can make a song out of anything, ask me to sing a song and I can, Bugga you like elephants, I can sing a song about elephants, and then she did, "Elephants are big and they sound like "Haaaaarh"....they like peanuts" It went on and on, to the point that Ben and I just started laughing....and before she could ask anyone else what they wanted her to sing, she said, "Let's play guess the animal noise! oink, oink, what's that noise? Donovan guessed 'pig', so she said it was her turn again cause she won, so this went on and on, different animals until Ben finally yelled out 'puma bear' for a cow....She said, "No"...he said, "a puma?" she said "no", he said, "a bear?", she said, "no", he said, 'a bear who's a puma?" She said, "No! Stop!"...he said, "are you sure its not a puma bear?" I'm dying laughing at this point, cause Ben is so annoying that he'll keep going and she just keeps saying "NO"....its priceless! So she finally yells, "Just stop, OK? Listen with your ears and then you'll understand" So she moo'd again and he yelled, "A puma bear?" I swear you have to be there, but that was some funny stuff....She passed out soon after all because Ben wore her down and made her too mad to talk LOL

Owen!

I love to just randomly yell "Owen, you stupid poop" Its a fun joke between Ben and I....we're movie quoters...its from Throw Momma From the Train if you're unfamiliar...anyway, Delaney always picks up on our weirdness and immitates it, so I died laughing when I just heard her yelling "Ellen....Ellen...you stinky poop!"

Hide N Seek

So the kids were playing Hide'n seek, and Donovan took off to hide and we were upstairs, so he ran downstairs....Delaney runs around the corner, yells, "Did you see him, where'd he go?" I replied, "Downstairs" Frantically she says, "Did you say upstairs or downstairs?" I asked, "Delaney, we're up stairs, where is he go up?" She looks at the attic pull down and says with a smile, "Up there, which would be a great hiding place! I would never think to look there!" SO I asked how on earth he was getting up there since he couldn't reach and she said, "you?" I said, "In the 10 seconds that you counted?" She laughed and said, "Oh yeah ok, good point.....downstairs?" I hope she's pretty....LOL

Simon Says Play With Me!

So while I was making dinner last night, I decided to poke my head outside and see what the kids were doing. When I opened the door, Delaney was shouting commands, "Simon Says jump up and down" Donovan and Tenley were standing on the deck, one climbing the slide the other bouncing a basketball, neither acknowledging her. I asked what they were doing and she said, "We need you to come play with us. We're playing Simon Says and these two people(Head nod towards her siblings along with an eyeroll) don't know the rules!" I said, "well I'm making dinner so I can't." She pointed her finger right up at me and said, "Simon says play with me!" LOL

Where did Daddy come from?

Donovan loves to reminisce about being in my belly....he knows that he, Delaney and Tenley once lived int here but he just asked if daddy was in there.....I said, "Nope that was one place he was not!" And he said, "Then where did he come from?" I said, "He was in Gegie's belly"....next question, "Who was in Pap-Pap's belly?" "Food" I said, "Just food" He smiled and said, "Yeah, lots of food...and cookies"

What's in a Name

I love how Tenley talks....She's trying so hard to get the words out correctly but of course, she has her shortcuts which just crack me up....She calls Donovan "Dodo" which seems extremely appropriate, Delaney is "Naney Dwace"....My mom is "Bomma" and so forth...its so cute....So Ben asked her this morning what he name is and she said, "Me" My favorite yet....

The talking Penis

So Donovan has been so good about Potty Training...so good that we really haven't had many issues....he went in, did it, we got rid of pull-ups fast...he was very determined....and its been great...very few accidents, all at night and those were so few also, until last week. He peed the bed every night...EVERY NIGHT!....I know this, because every morning I stripped the bed and washed everything....EVERY MORNING! So we talked to him about making sure he didn't drink anything after a certain time, let him know that he could never go to bed without peeing on the potty and that he really should try to get up at night and go on the potty, rather than pee the bed....So Friday night, we were extra cautious and we woke up Saturday with a dry bed...Very exciting after the wet week! So Ben made a big deal about it and then told Donovan that he should go and pee on the potty since he made it all night without peeing....He said, "well, my pee pee didn't tell me I had to go yet" Really? "Yeah, I telled him last night not to pee and he didn't but he didn't tell me yet to go this morning" A half an hour later, the talking penis did tell him to pee, btw.....I'm guessing this is the beginning of Donovan being controlled by his penis...

Big Kenny/Evan

Donovan is obsessed with some of Ben's basketball players....OBSESSED! I think he thinks they are super stars, even God-like with how fascinated he is by them....Well, his two favorites are Kenny and Evan....In fact, He calls Kenney "Big Kenny" and Evan, who resembles Kenny, he used to call, "Little Kenny"....We forced him to use his proper name cause he is older than Kenny and I'm sure he doesn't want to be call Little Kenny...Anyway....he was talking to my brother-in-law on the phone this morning and he asked what they are gonna name their baby...He told him before that it should be, of course, Big Kenny or Evan....So Pat told him he's naming him 'Big Kenny'....Donovan yelled, "He's naming the baby 'Big Kenny'"...then he went back to phone and said,"But I'm gonna call him 'Evan'" LOL

Hi

I just love how Donovan says he said hello to someone....He says, "Mommy I hi'd them" or "Can I go outside and 'hi' Christina?" I think its adorable and now Tenley is saying it too. She does everything he does....

Costumes

Oh man, looking up costumes with the kids is hilarious....Delaney said she wanted to be Marida from Brave and I could be her mom, and Ben could be her dad, and her triplet cousins could be the triplets and Donovan could be the Lion King LOL I thought we had a theme going.... Then she just pointed at a little girl and said, "OMG, its Little Red Howling Hood" LMAO Her mess ups crack me up more than anything....hahahahaha!

Big Sizer?

OMG....Delaney just went shopping with my MIL, came home with a cute dress and wanted to try it on... Unfortunately it was a size too big...so I said well, we'll take it back and get a smaller size....She put her attituded hand up and said, "Or we could just wait until I grow up to it....Big sizer!" LOL

Nap

This one is more about Ben.....Delaney just woke up from an afternoon pass out on the couch and said, "I took a nap on the couch" and Ben replied, "Oh well that's good because I thought the couch fell under you while you took a nap" LOL Pretty funny guy!

Nice Shirt!

Donovan last night informed Ben and I that, "If I see a kid in a store with a nice shirt on, I'm gonna say, 'hey kid, that's a nice shirt'" Donovan is a master of the obvious! lol

Back in the Day When I was 4, I'm Not a Kid Anymore.....

So last night we're driving and Delaney just suddenly starts crying....So we asked what was wrong and she said, "My head doesn't fit anymore....its too big. It was the perfect size when I was 4, but it keeps growing and I don't want it too. Its too big now and I can't make it stop growing" Ben and I, horrible parents that we are, cracked up....We told her it was one of the funniest things she'd ever said and that her head was perfectly fine and it wasn't big...then we noticed that she was trying to put this crown on her head and it kept popping off....so since it didn't fit anymore, must be the size of her head, right?....nope, it was stepped on and smashed together a bit....not too small anymore....and thank God she doesn't have the amazing growing head....now she is Irish, so let's face it, she does have a noggin on her....but its a beautiful noggin! lol
